Campbell River, BC (July 18, 2024) — We are thrilled to announce that Homalco Wildlife & Cultural Tours has achieved the status of being Biosphere Committed! This recognition marks a milestone in our ongoing journey towards sustainability and our dedication to positively impacting the environment and our community. We have committed to aligning our operations with 3 of the applicable 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

At Homalco Wildlife & Cultural Tours, conservation and sustainability are central to our mission. We are dedicated to preserving the pristine environment of the Xwémalhkwu or Homalco First Nation and ensuring that our wildlife and cultural tours have minimal impact on the natural world. Our efforts include replenishing native salmon populations, safeguarding and conserving the bear population, maintaining the health of the marine ecosystem through low-impact practices, supporting youth cultural revitalization, and promoting environmental stewardship. By partnering with various organizations and adopting eco-friendly practices, we aim to protect our land, waters, and wildlife for future generations.
