Homalco Wildlife & Cultural Tours depart from the Coast Marina in Campbell River, BC. Tours typically take place around the Discovery Islands and can include Bute Inlet – the traditional territory of the Homalco First Nation.

Our cultural and wildlife tours include experiences that take place in the traditional territory of the Homalco First Nation in Bute Inlet. All of our tours conveniently depart from the Coast Marina at 1003 B Island Highway, Campbell River, BC near downtown. We are located next to the BC Ferries Campbell River terminal and right beside Dockside Fish & Chips.

Parking for Homalco Wildlife & Cultural Tours

Our downtown-friendly location is just a short walk from the Campbell River Visitor Centre, Campbell River Art Gallery, Coast Discovery Inn, Comfort Inn & Suites, and a ton of downtown shops and services.

There is free parking directly across the road at Tyee Plaza and Shoppers Row. Please do not park in areas designated for the Coast Discovery Inn.

Vancouver to Campbell River

By Land

Travelling from Vancouver to Campbell River by land is easy. From Vancouver, you can travel to Nanaimo via BC Ferries from either the Horseshoe Bay or Tsawwassen terminals. Once in Nanaimo, follow signs to the Nanaimo Parkway (Highway 19) and head north to Campbell River. The highway will intersect in Campbell River with Highway 19A, where you’ll want to park across from Coast Marina at the Tyee Plaza where there is plenty of free parking. By Air

You can fly directly from Vancouver (YVR) to Campbell River (YBL) on Air Canada, Central Mountain Air, or Pacific Coastal Airlines. From there you can rent a car, call a cab, or use the airport shuttle to reach your preferred accommodation. All tours depart from Coast Marina, so we recommend staying somewhere close by for convenience.

By Sea

If you have your own boat, you can travel from Vancouver to Campbell River by sea. Arriving in Campbell River, there’s moorage available at Coast Marina, Campbell River Fisherman’s Warf or Discovery Harbour Marina for personal watercraft. All tours depart from Coast Marina, making that location the most convenient option.

Driving from Nanaimo to Campbell River takes approximately 1.5 hours. In Nanaimo, follow either the Island Highway (Highway 1) or Nanaimo Parkway (Highway 19) North towards Campbell River. For a slower, more scenic journey, you can follow the Oceanside Route along Highway 19A. The highway will intersect in Campbell River with Highway 19A, where you’ll want to park across from Coast Marina at the Tyee Plaza where there is plenty of free parking. Powell River to Campbell River

By Land

Powell River is on the Upper Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. While Powell River and the Sunshine Coast are considered part of the mainland of BC, it is only accessible by ferry, boat or float plane. Because of this, you’ll be unable to drive directly from Powell River to Campbell River.

By Air

By Sea

To get from Powell River on the Sunshine Coast to Campbell River on Vancouver Island, you’ll need to take a ferry or boat to Comox and then drive to Campbell River.  

By BC Ferry – Take the ferry from Westview (Powell River) to Little River (Comox). It’s highly recommended you reserve your ferry in advance. It’s a 1.5-hour sailing where you can take your vehicle or walk on as a foot passenger. From the Comox ferry terminal (Little River), you can take the Oceanside Route – Highway 19A (also known as the Old Island Highway) right to where the Homalco Wildlife and Cultural Tours dock. Much of the Old Island highway has beautiful scenery and is beside the ocean. It takes about 45 minutes to drive from the Little River ferry terminal to the Campbell River Coast Marina. 

By Water Taxi – A few water taxi companies will take you directly from Powell River, Lund or Savary Island to the Campbell River Coast Marina, which is where our tours leave form.
